Located in the Matale district, Dambulla is part of the cultural triangle and is home to the world famous Dambulla cave temples. The cave temples complex that lies atop a massive hill on the edge of the town is one of the eight UNESCO world heritage sites in the country and is renowned for its unique mural paintings and sculptures. If you are not a history-buff, fret not, because there is more to Dambulla.
You can choose to visit the Minneriya National Park and head out for a safari ride to enjoy the sights of the many elephant herds that inhabit the sanctuary or increase the adventure quotient with a hike up the mystical mountains of Ritigala or a hot air balloon ride (available between November – May).

Breakfast at the hotel and leave for Kandy via Matale. En-route visits the Golden rock temple.
Golden Rock is a cave temple which dates back to the 1st Century .BC. Its rock ceiling is one large sweep of colorful frescoes which depict Buddhist mythology and the tales of the Buddha’s previous births. The caves house the largest collection of Buddha statues in one place. The small building is designed like a Hindu temple with a mandapa, an entrance hall (originally roofed), a short passage to a bare cello, and an ambulatory round the holy center.
There is no sign of Hindu gods, however, and the temple is said to have been used by Buddhists. This is one of the earliest buildings of stone constructed in Ceylon Then travel to Kandy visit the Matale spice garden, Kandy Temple & View a cultural dance in evening. Kandy, last seat of the Sinhala Kings, is a very popular destination for visitors from home and abroad.

Breakfast at the hotel and leave for Haputhale. En-route visits a Tea factory,Tea plantation and Ramboda waterfall.

The vegetation in the park comprises predominantly of semi-arid thorny scrub, interspersed with pockets of fairly dense secondary forest. Small patches of mangrove vegetation also occur along the coastal lagoons. The park is renowned for the variety of its Wildlife (most notably its many elephants) and its fine coastline (with associated coral reefs). It also boasts a large number of important cultural ruins, bearing testimony to earlier civilizations and indicating that much of the area used to be populated and well developed.
